I am really digging the lettuce “bun” for burgers. So much so that I bought another head of iceberg lettuce with the only intention of making “buns” out of it. I also had some jalapeno and cheddar at home, so I decided to make my own version of this recipe.
Start by preheating your Cuisinart Griddler (or other grilling apparatus) to medium-high…
- Seed and finely chop 2 jalapenos.
- Place 1.25 pounds of ground beef into a large bowl.
- Add the jalapenos.
- Add 1 tablespoon onion powder.
- Add 1 tablespoon garlic powder.
- Add 1 teaspoon salt.
- Add 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.
- Add 1 teaspoon pepper.
- Mix well and form into 8 small patties.
- Break 2 slices of cheddar cheese into 8 small squares.
- Take 1 patty of meat and place 2 squares of cheese on top.
- Place another patty on top of that, and seal the edges to form 1 patty.
- Repeat with the remaining patties.
- Place the patties on your griddler and cook the way you prefer your burgers. (Remember to flip once!)
- While the burgers cook, cut up 1 head of iceberg lettuce into bun sized pieces.
Serve the burgers on the lettuce “buns”.
Enjoy!
